About Us
Ability Tree First Coast is a nonprofit organization, with a mission to reach families impacted by disability through Recreation, Education, Support and Training (R.E.S.T.); we aim to partner with individuals and organizations to raise awareness and build support networks to strengthen and grow able families. What sets us apart from other local agencies is that we focus on the whole family unit, not just the individual with disabilities. We also are intentional with assisting community organizations become knowledgeable and strategic within the disabilities community.
The partnership between Ability Tree First Coast and the community is our cornerstone. Our organization’s approach to excellence in the family’s development, socialization, and support is its hallmark. We have special needs day camps for kids and youth, social programs for kids, youth , and adults, as well as family socials. We also provide trainings that assist businesses, churches, civic groups, etc. with gaining a clear understanding of the disabilities community. This includes creating effective & evolving strategies to bring these individuals and families into their establishments or Corporate Social Responsibility Goals.
As we grow our roots deeper into this region, we will provide opportunities for families to participate in varied activities including sibling groups and after-school care.Images

View Personal BioJoanne AliceaJoanne is the CEO of Ability Tree First Coast, Inc. She is also a certified Waiver Support Coordinator for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD), with over 18 years of case management & social services experience working with several non-profits, as well as the Medicaid State Plan and Department of Children and Families. Joanne holds a Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a minor in Communications from Palm Beach Atlantic University. She has done presentations on disabilities awareness & inclusion strategies in various settings, including hospitals, churches, and schools.
