Organ Crawl with Ray McDonald
Ray McDonald, the Director of Music and Organist at Memorial Presbyterian Church will demonstrate the inner workings of the Aeolian-Skinner organ at the church. This organ, the largest in St. Augustine, has been refurbished recently and pipes and digital stops have been added. He will explain the inner workings of the instrument, demonstrate the various sounds and play several pieces showing the organ’s capabilities. He is a valued resource on organ building having spent an apprenticeship with the Flentrop Organ company in the Netherlands. Mr. McDonald is currently a consultant on the new Schoenstein organ at the Basilica of Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine in Kissimmee – a magnificent instrument with 32 foot facade pipes and comprised of over 5,000 pipes.
