• North Florida Land Trust to receive challenge grant for its Preservation Fund from Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Fund

The 1:1 matching grant will help to preserve lands now

Jacksonville, Fla., Nov. 21, 2022 – North Florida Land Trust has been approved as a recipient of a challenge grant from the Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Fund to support the Preservation Fund during NFLT’s end-of-year campaign. The 1:1 matching grant would provide $100,000 to the nonprofit land conservation organization after it meets the challenge and raises $100,000 during this campaign.

“We are thankful for this opportunity and are now asking the public to help us meet this challenge to save natural spaces now before it is too late. It is now or never,” said Allison DeFoor, interim president of NFLT. “Once these lands are lost, they are lost forever which is why it is so important that we have the funds on hand to preserve these lands for future generations.”

The Preservation Fund was created to allow NFLT to respond quickly and raise funds fast to preserve lands in danger of disappearing. The fund supports the nonprofit’s core mission to preserve and restore the most treasured lands in north Florida. NFLT’s end-of-year campaign has a goal to raise $600,000 and has officially raised $138,728 to date.

“The North Florida Land Trust’s ambitious goal to preserve land requires a keen strategy in which we can all play a role,” said Delores Barr Weaver. “I have established this challenge grant opportunity so that everyone can contribute to the Preservation Fund. Gifts of any size make me smile! These gifts will enable the land trust to act quickly when there is an opportunity to set aside these important, vulnerable parcels of property.”

Donations can be made to the Preservation Fund at support.nflt.org. Donors can also send a contribution directly to NFLT at 843 W. Monroe St., Jacksonville, FL, 32202.
