    About Us

Inspired by his visit to a wax museum in London when he was a boy, St. Augustine resident George Potter achieved his dream when he created his own world of wax here in 1949– the first wax museum in the United States. Following exhaustive research done in the British Museum, he assembled artists and craftsmen from all over the world to create his wax statues.

Today, Potter’s Wax Museum is home to more than 160 different wax figures, including Potter’s original collection– each one an authentic life–sized recreation of the men and women they represent. The Museum features interactive displays and lots of opportunities for guests to take pictures of themselves with famous sports figures, entertainment icons, and characters out of history and the movies.

Potter’s Wax Museum offers an entertaining time for adults and children of all ages. Groups and school field trips are welcomed. Bring your camera, as the figures make for a great photo opportunity.
