Leslie and Bobby Weed founded the HEAL Foundation in 2007. Their daughter, Lanier age 21, is profoundly affected by autism, is non-verbal, and requires lifetime care, was the inspiration for them establishing HEAL – Helping Enrich Autistic Lives. HEAL has supported and funded over 100 organizations, camps, programs and schools serving those with autism throughout Northeast Florida. HEAL has contributed over $2.2 million supporting the Florida counties of Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns.
HEAL's newest initiative is iHEAL – iPads Helping Enrich Autistic Lives. After witnessing the progress students with autism are making with iPads, HEAL was inspired to purchase 420 iPads to date and donate them to Exceptional Student Education (ESE) classrooms in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties. It is because of the iPad, Lanier and many others who are non-verbal, now have a voice.
TEAM HEAL is a group of young professionals who are passionate about increasing advocacy and awareness of autism in our community. TEAM HEAL is HEAL's new young professionals board.
