About Our Mentor/Guest Speaker:
Marsha G. Oliver is Vice-President, Community & Inclusion for the PGA TOUR. In this capacity, Oliver is responsible for helping lead and support the TOUR’s commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion practices that strengthen and improve communities, businesses, and sports. She joined the TOUR in April 2019, bringing over 25 years of experience leading public relations, marketing communications, and crisis management efforts for corporate, government, and philanthropic organizations. In addition to serving as Director, Public Affairs and spokesperson for City of Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry, a position she held for nearly four years, Oliver spent 16 years as Assistant Superintendent, Communications for Duval County Public Schools. In these capacities, Oliver earned numerous industry awards, achievements, and commendations including recognition as one of the nation’s top education public relations professionals (Council of Great City Schools).
Although a Jacksonville native, Oliver began her professional career in Hershey, Pa. at Hershey Foods Corporation. As Public Relations Representative, she led product launches, promotions, sponsorships, community and public relations programs, and special events. After four years, Oliver returned to her hometown of Jacksonville, where she worked as an account manager for advertising and public relations leader William Cook Agency. She also managed public relations efforts for a CSX Corporation subsidiary, served as a television co-host for WJXT TV4 (The Buzz), and newspaper columnist for the Jacksonville Free Press. In addition, Oliver founded O. Communications, LLC, a Jacksonville, Fla.-based public relations firm that provided strategic marketing communications services to nonprofit organizations including The Chartrand Family Fund, Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition, March of Dimes (Florida), and the Museum of Science & History (Race: Are We So Different?).
