VETERAN GARDEN PROJECT 1ST ANNUAL MARSH CREEK CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT
Golf Tournament To Benefit The Veteran Garden Project
On Monday October 11, 2021 the Marsh Creek Country Club will host the 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament 2021 to benefit St. Augustine’s Veteran Garden Project. The shotgun scramble event seeks players, sponsors, raffle and prize donation items.
The golf tournament will be 2021’s second major fundraising event for the Veteran Garden Project (VGP). While June’s Shovels for Soldiers art and music gala was a successful evening for the non-profit, like many other organizations it looks to build on that in order to make up for the inability to appeal for funds during the Covid pandemic.?
Founding member and VGP President Crystal Timmons hopes to build on the success of the June event, stating she is “grateful, excited and looking forward to this tournament for the fun and camaraderie it will provide outside on such a beautiful course.”
VGP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization which uses trauma-informed gardening, mind/body, and permaculture programming to support and empower veterans, military members, their families, and volunteers. This work is expressed through its mission to support our healing veteran community while also encouraging and supporting stewardship of our precious resources.?
Participation in the Marsh Creek Country Club golf scramble will help impact VGP as the organization strives to continue its mission, as well as work toward the goal of purchasing at least one acre of property in St. Johns County by 2022. This land will be used as a permanent administrative and programmatic hub and will enable VGP to expand its service scope and impact by 200%.?
“This will be the first veteran-oriented gardening and permaculture learning center in St. Augustine,” adds Timmons.
Marsh Creek Country Club boasts one of the finest North Florida golf courses, offering an 18-hole golf course designed by former PGA touring professional Mark McCumber. Six tee placements challenge golfers of all levels of play. The fairways border natural marshland, and the island is home to abundant birds and wildlife, from bald eagles to bobcats.
Sponsorship levels start at $100-$5000. More information and sponsorship levels can be found on registration link.
