Quang 'Q' Pham is a biotech entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in financing, founding and growing companies. He founded Westwood, a spinout from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), to develop novel therapeutics developed by world leading researchers. Previously, he served as Chairman and CEO of Espero BioPharma which he also founded. Espero had a robust cardiorenal clinical development pipeline and was twice named by the Jacksonville Business Journal as the fastest growing company in Northeast Florida.
Quang also founded Lathian Systems, an innovative company that provided online data and marketing services to pharmaceutical companies. He raised venture capital funding for Lathian, grew the business and led its eventual sale to D&R Communications in 2012. After serving as a U.S. Marine Corps pilot in Operation Desert Storm and Somalia, Quang began his pharmaceutical career with Genentech. He is an award-winning author and holds a B.A. in Economics from UCLA. He has received the EY Entrepreneur of The Year® and named a Veteran of Influence. He served on the boards of Volunteers in Medicine, BioFlorida and the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.
Quang is a native of South Vietnam. His family (except his father) was evacuated to the U.S. at the end of the war. He spent months in refugee camps while his father survived 12 years in Communist prison camps. Quang’s book, A Sense of Duty: Our Journey from Vietnam, was published by Random House. He has shared his journey on NBC Nightly News, NPR, PBS, FOX, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and other national and regional media outlets.
