Keynote Presenter: Senator Travis Hutson (R) District 7
Senator Travis Hutson is a member of the Florida State Senate, representing District 7 including St. Johns and Flagler counties as well as part of Volusia county. He assumed office in 2016 and was re-elected in the November 3, 2020 General Election. Travis previously served as the State Representative for Florida House District 24, representing Flagler and parts of St. Johns and Volusia Counties upon his election in 2012.
A native of Northeast Florida, Senator Hutson grew up in Jacksonville and currently resides in St. Johns County. He received his B.S. in economics and business from Lafayette College in 2007. Travis works in his family’s business, assisting in property and agricultural management and local charitable foundations. He has served on the board of directors for Hands On Jacksonville and on the development committee for St. Augustine Youth Services and has been a member of the board of directors for EPIC in St. Johns County.
While serving in the Florida Legislature, Senator Hutson championed legislation for District 7 and the state, focusing on the economy, education and public safety. He helped craft enhancements to Florida’s Career and Professional Education Act, responding to Florida’s critical workforce needs. Travis closed loopholes in the release of sexual violent predators making Northeast Florida’s most vulnerable citizens safer. In addition, Travis fought for improved water quality in Florida, as he successfully championed water policy reform and hurricane recovery.
The mission of the Economic Development Council is to promote St. Johns County as an ideal business location and to encourage businesses, both large and small, to expand and relocate within St. Johns County. EDC activities and events are designed to support the success of both new and existing businesses in St. Johns County. We offer resources to businesses and support start-up ventures by providing information and connectivity to a variety of local resources.
