  • St. Johns County School District 

    St. Johns County ranks high in educational attainment, with 91.2% of its residents high school graduates as compared to 80.7% statewide.  Public school admission requirements are as follows: 

    First Time Entry to Florida Schools

    • Parents must register children at the school where they have been zoned for that year.  For school zoning information,, call (904) 547-7598 or visit www.stjohns.k12.fl.us/dpts/student
    • Students entering school must have the following:
      • Recent physical examination and immunization records
      • School records
      • Proof of residence 
      • Certified birth certificate 

    Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Requirements 

    • Children must be four years old on or before September 1.  For information, contact Episcopal Children's Services at (904) 726-1500 or visit www.ecs4kids.org

    Age Requirements 

    • Kindergarten: Children must be five years old on or before September 1.
    • First Grade: Children must be six years old on or before September 1, and must have successfully completed kindergarten.

    All St. Johns County public schools are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and School Council on Accreditation and School Improvement. The district employs over 5,039 part-time employees to provide one teacher per

    The Florida School for the Deaf and Blind (FSDB) is a state public school located in St. Augustine, Florida. Available at no cost to parents and students, FSDB serves eligible students from across the state that are deaf/hard of hearing or blind/visually impaired. FSDB maintains full accreditation and provides pre-kindergarten through 12th grade children with various opportunities for independence, growth, and learning.

    Flagler College is a four-year liberal arts college located in the heart of St. Augustine, Florida on the grounds of the former Hotel Ponce de Leon, built in 1888 by oil magnate, Henry Morrison Flagler.  Established in 1968, it is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and offers 31 majors, 36 minors and pre-professional programs leading to the bachelor's degree. Its largest majors are education, business administration and communication.  TIME magazine has listed Flagler in its "Best College for You" Guide, and Kaplan/Newsweek has identified Flagler as a "hidden treasure."  U.S. News and World Report has ranked Flagler College among the top private liberal arts colleges in the south for more than a decade.     The St. Augustine campus of St. Johns River State College is located off State Road 16, just west of downtown St. Augustine. First occupied in 1996, the campus is home to more than 2,000 students working toward associate degrees in arts and sciences. Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree programs have been recently added. The school's curriculum also includes specialty training geared to the needs of area employers such as computer science, construction technology, criminal justice and healthcare. St. Johns River State is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

    Saint Leo is an accredited, Catholic, coeducation liberal arts school with campuses in St. Augustine, Orange Park and Palatka at St. Johns River Sate. Students may earn a bachelor's degree in a variety of majors, and classes are also offered during evenings, weekends, and online to accommodate working adult students.

    Established in 1965, First Coast Technical College serves St. Johns, Putnam, and Clay counties to provide career and technical training for adults and high school students.  Today, FCTC has four convenient locations offering training in more than 34 careers, in addition to corporate training, adult, community, and continuing education classes.  FCTC has working articulation agreements with a number of state colleges, and several independent colleges/universities for graduates to further their educational goals. Career counseling, financial aid for students who qualify, and job placement assistance are available.
