The St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership St. Johns (LSJ) Class of 2022 hosted a Ribbon Cutting Event on September 8, 2022, to unveil the renovated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Room at the St. Augustine Boys & Girls Club location.

The Ribbon Cutting included sponsors of the Class’ fundraising event as well as staff and students from the St. Augustine Boys & Girls Club and showcased the STEM Room Renovation completed by the LSJ Class. The renovation includes brand new Chromebooks, VR equipment, smart boards, new tables, chairs, LEGO kits, and more. Additional instructional materials and resources were donated by STEM2 Hub and a custom LEGO table was provided by local artist Jimmy Davis.

“Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida sincerely appreciates our community partnership with Leadership St. Johns.

It is only through these partnerships that we can continue to impact the lives of young people in St. Johns County,” said

Paul Martinez, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida.  “This critical partnership will provide hundreds of youth with exposure to exciting STEM programs that will enhance their lives and shape their future.  Exposure to science, technology, engineering, and math is critical during the tween years when young people’s natural curiosity drives interest and builds capacity for success in these disciplines.  We are grateful to Leadership St. Johns for their partnership and this generous addition to our Boys & Girls Club in St. Augustine.”

Isabelle Renault, CEO and President of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce said, “The Leadership St. Johns Program is a cornerstone in the foundation of our local chamber.  Each cohort is exposed to community leaders across our region and learn the diverse aspects of our economy.  Each class selects a project to undertake that marks their legacy in the Leadership Program.  This STEM Room renovation and the student scholarships that accompany it will truly make a difference in the lives of the young people involved.”
